About the exam

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) is a pen-and-paper test held once a year. Its score is used for MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS and B.Sc Nursing admissions.

All-India quota counselling is run by the Medical Counselling Committee; state quota counselling is run by each state.

Marks and ranks

The maximum score is 180×4=720180 \times 4 = 720 marks. Ties are broken by the marks in Biology, then Chemistry, then Physics (sample rule).

  • At least 17 years old on 31 December of the admission year.

  • Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English.

  • At least 50% in PCB for General candidates (40% for SC/ST/OBC) — sample rule.
